OVERVIEW

Responsibilities:
As a peripatetic music teacher, you would be delivering a weekly timetable of teaching activities across a range of schools throughout Birmingham in support of the National Plan for Music Education and/or delivering activities connected to SFE’s role as the Music Hub Lead Organisation for Birmingham. This would include:
– Providing individual and group lessons for students of various skill levels, from beginners through to advanced players
– Developing engaging lessons to cater to the individual needs and goals of each student
– Preparing students for performances, exams and auditions
– Continuously monitoring and encouraging young people by providing constructive feedback and guidance to enable progression
– Staying updated with music teaching methodologies and participating in regular professional development opportunities
We would love to hear from you if you have any of the following experience:
Proficient in playing and teaching at least one instrument (achieved Grade 8 or have extensive experience as a performer at an equivalent level) from the following: keyboard, woodwind, brass, upper or lower strings, guitar, percussion, non-traditional instruments (for example sitar, dohl, steel pans or drums or vocal)
Primary Whole Class Instrumental teaching
Expertise in teaching in SEND settings, working with children and young people with complex barriers to learning, including those with severe and profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
Small Group/1:1 teaching
Ensemble direction
What you will bring to the role:
– Enthusiasm and passion for music and music education, and a commitment to inspiring students to achieve their musical potential
– Qualified Teacher Status (preferred) and/or a bachelors and/or masters degree in Music/Music Education , or equivalent professional experience.
– Excellent communication, team working and interpersonal skills.
