Services For Education will continue to be the Appropriate Body for NQTs on behalf of Birmingham Local Authority in the 2018-19 academic year. 

In the last year we have supported over 500 NQTs in over 300 settings this academic year in all phases of education, and look forward to supporting your school and staff with the induction of newly qualified teachers.  
 
When you register with us you get a personalised approach to meeting the needs of your school and NQTs.

NQT Manager Tool

 
If you have already had NQTs with us this year, you will be familiar with the online NQT Manager tool. Everything that you need will be online, secure in the one place.  As well as accessing your NQTs and assessments, you will have access to documents such as guidance notes and useful links. To access the system, simply visit www.nqtmanager.com then select Birmingham from the list of Appropriate Bodies.

We have kept our charges for the induction process the same as the 17/18 year at  

  • 1 term £100
  • 2 terms £180 
  • Full academic year £260.

Key things to remember for Headteachers:
  • Register your NQTs with an Appropriate Body 
  • Check your NQT has been awarded QTS
  • Check your NQT mentors have an up to date knowledge of statutory duty
  • Ensure all NQTs receive their 10% reduced timetable for CPD
  • Use the Teachers’ Standards to assess progress
  • Ensure you have an open and transparent support plan that shows impact of CPD

 

Your responsibilities as an Induction tutor:
  • Provide and co-ordinate, guidance and effective support for your NQT(s)
  • Carry out progress reviews
  • Carry out three formal assessment reviews during the total of the induction period
  • Take prompt action if your NQT appears to be having difficulties
