Birmingham Virtual School and Services For Education have been working in partnership to provide 1:1 instrumental music lessons for children in care.

Schools are able to access fully-funded provision for Birmingham children in both year 4 and year 7 at no cost to the school. For all remaining year groups (year 5, 6, 8, 9 10 and 11) schools are able to access a 50% subsidy which can be funded using the child’s PP plus termly allocation.

In terms of charges for 2024-25, the total cost of lessons is £430 per academic year for 33 x 30 minute 1:1 instrumental music lessons including the loan of an instrument. This is equivalent to £143.33 per term which schools can fund using the Pupil Premium plus termly amount of £500 provided for each young person in their school. This fee includes the 50% subsidy.
